DarkMe Malware Targets Traders Using Microsoft SmartScreen Zero-Day Vulnerability

A recently discovered security flaw in Microsoft Defender SmartScreen, known as a zero-day vulnerability, has been exploited by an advanced persistent threat actor called Water Hydra, also known as DarkCasino. This malicious activity targets financial market traders. Trend Micro has been tracking the campaign since late December 2023 and identified the exploitation of CVE-2024-21412, a security bypass vulnerability related to Internet Explorer.
