Google has announced plans to change the way it stores Maps Timeline data, switching from cloud storage on users’ Google accounts to local storage on their devices, starting from December 1, 2024. This move is aimed at enhancing user privacy and control over location data.
In addition to the storage change, Google also announced alterations to the auto-delete control, now setting the default duration for Location History to three months, down from the previous 18 months.
