Google Unveils RETVec – Gmail’s New Defense Against Spam and Malicious Emails

Google has launched a new multilingual text vectorizer called RETVec to enhance Gmail’s ability to detect spam and malicious emails. RETVec, which stands for Resilient and Efficient Text Vectorizer, is designed to withstand character-level manipulations and improve detection of harmful content.

According to the project’s description, RETVec is trained to be resilient against various manipulation techniques, including insertion, deletion, typos, homoglyphs, and LEET substitution.
